Jack

Another older pattern! I’m gonna be typing this up in two parts - mostly because I am currently drowning in projects. There’s next to no space on my desk & I feel like I’m waaay behind the amount of things I’m trying to accomplish/finish.

So, this part is basically just Jack’s head. You could also just make this part without the body as one of the pumpkins in Animal Crossing. I’ve not done that yet, mostly because I’ve not had time.

Another fun thing: my puppy, Lily, gets spayed in less than two weeks. I’m pretty scared to go through it - never had a female dog before, just cats. It should be a “fun” experience with an Australian Shepherd. She is so hyper & sooo hard to keep up with, so it should be extra fun to try to keep her calm.

ASSEMBLY

·         Stuff the stem & sew it to the top of the head between rounds 3&4 of the head.

·         Find the third increase from round 12 of the head & place a pin it.

·         Place a pin between rounds 12&13. It should be about 5-6 stitches to the right of the pin in the third increase in round 12. (green-ish pin is in the increase, white pin is one round below)

·         Sew one of the head bumps to the head. The first sc in the increase from round 7 of the bump should be sewed where the white pin is (between rounds 12&13 of the head).

·         Sew the head bump in a circular shape towards the stem.
The back end of the bump should sit between rounds 5&6 of the head. Stuff the bump as you sew it.
The 13 stitches from round 7 should be sewed along the front, between rounds 12&13 of the head.

·         To sew the second bump to the head, go through the first stitch of the 13 stitches from the first head bump
(see picture below)

Overlap each of the head bumps by doing this. This will avoid having spaces in between them.

·         Sew the next four head bumps around the head, overlapping them & stuffing them as they are sewed on.

·         If using felt:  Cut the pieces in the image below out of black - the eyes should be 0.75~ of an inch & sit between rounds 15-18 of the head, approximately 5-6 stitches apart. The nose should be about half an inch wide & sit between rounds 20&21 of the head. The mouth should be 3.5~ inches wide & the bottom of it should sit between rounds 24&25 of the head. Glue/sew the pieces to the head

If needle felting: Create the eyes out of black, they should be 0.75~ of an inch. They should sit between rounds 15&18 of the head, approximately 5-6 stitches apart. Create the nose out of black – it should be about half an inch wide & sit between rounds 20&21 of the head. Create the mouth out of black using the image above. The bottom of the mouth should sit between rounds 24&25 of the head. The entire piece should be approximately 3 & a half inches wide.

·         Optional:
If using felt: using light orange/yellow: cut 4-5 circular shapes for each of the six head bumps & glue/sew 4-5 of them to each of the head bumps. Cut some small spots & glue/sew them to the face, around the eyes, nose & mouth.
Using dark orange, cut shapes to fit under the eyes, nose & mouth to give them more depth.
If needle felting: using light orange/yellow, create 4-5 circular shapes on the tops of each of the head bumps. Create rings around each of the eyes out of light orange/yellow. Add some spots around the eyes, nose & mouth in light orange/yellow.
Using dark orange, add shadows under the eyes, nose & mouth to give them more depth.

When is part two coming? Not sure, probably this weekend if I have time & a less cluttered desk.
